We have our ‘woolies’ all packed up and ready to go - leaving on a jet plane in the morning for the grand old US of A. It has been a busy couple of weeks knitting, getting tags made and sewn on, and finally packing them and up. This morning we did a photo shoot with baby Ben and the woolies for the website - here are some unedited pictures from today.
For those of you who read the post below and discovered that we don’t use cloth diapers ourselves, (it’s a living in China thing) never fear - in the pictures of Ben wearing the soakers I layered disposables until his bum was nice and round.
Hopefully the woolies will be up on the website for purchase in the next week or so!

We’ve had lots of people tell us that we should make woolies (wool soakers) for cloth diapering. To tell you the truth, I don’t cloth diaper my babies and I had to do a lot of research to figure out exactly what a ‘woolie’ was. After feeling like I had a good grasp on it I started searching for patterns to try.
I have found quite a few patterns and am finally working on making a few of them. I’m trying to combine the best features of the patterns I like into one new design for closeknit. This has taken quite a bit of time, but it’s finally looking good! I am excited for you all to see them. We are hoping to have them online in the store by April 1st.

We are so blessed to have a new baby to model our closeknit baby items! Isn’t he just the cutest? Although he wasn’t very happy about this photo shoot, I guess it was too close to nap time.

Or another title might be, “Sarah’s personal knitting blog.” I hope to use this blog to share with you what I’ve been knitting, ideas for products we’re considering making at closeknit, and to receive feedback from you.
What products would you like to see closeknit offer? We’ve had some suggestions for woolies, longies, and larger sizes for our sweaters and hats. We’re currently working on getting ready to make woolies and longies…but in China it takes a lot of time to research yarn, purchase yarn, train staff how to make them and finally get them shipped to our warehouse in Iowa. Having a large family and being a home-school mom can slow things down as well. :) I’m hoping to have some new stuff on the website by April/May - so check back to see what we came up with!
For now I’ve posted some of my personal favorite closeknit items. We have a new baby to model some of our stuff - I’ll have to take some photos of him in the items we have around the house before he outgrows them. Check back for the next post of baby Ben in striped hat and sweater.
